October is finally here and that means it is almost Halloween.
It is time for a decoration contest in our ACCESS class.
We talked about what makes something spooky at Halloween. Ghosts, witches, graveyards…
There are many spooky scenarious during the Halloween season.

First, students looked at some door and window designs to try and find inspiration.

“I like this one. It’s spooky.”
After picking colored marbles to decide which team students would be on, “window” or “door”, it was time to get started.
Students began their brainstorming by coming up with their own quick design of what they would like to do.

“I want to do a zombie attack.”

“I want a graveyard.”

Next it was time to put student ideas together into one idea.
Teacher: “Okay, so you want to do a big monster? What if the zombies and the killers were attacking the monster?”
Students: “Yeah! That’s good!”

“The killer is attacking the monster’s eye.”

“This is the monster’s hand. It’s grabbing the killer.”
Things are coming together well for both the “door” team and the “window” team.
