Happy Thursday everyone!
Today in ACCESS Science class, we continued our study of the moon. This week, we focused on the history of how different cultures around the world have used the moon in their stories and legends.
We learned that in Greece, China, and elsewhere, the moon is considered feminine, and we discussed why we think that is.
Then we talked about why so many cultures have stories about the moon, and we challenged the students to come up with their own stories.
We started by looking at the features of the full moon. By finding shapes in the face of the moon, we can start creating our story.
Some students saw dolphins.
Some students saw a moose.
Some students saw stag beetles and stars and whales!
