Hi everyone! Let’s take a look at what we did in Access today. Since it’s December and the holiday season, we’ve been discussing all the holiday traditions that we participate in. Today, our focus is on New Year’s Eve!
Everyone has different ways of celebrating New Year’s Eve. In Japan, for example, we eat soba to bring long life and prosperity in the coming year. We also have festoons, which are made of straws and are often hung in front of houses or by the main door to bring luck and ward off evil spirits.
After our discussions, we moved on to our activity: Go away Namahage. Namahages in Japan are believed to be demons that come to take away children who disobey their parents.
The kids made a promise to be good in 2024 so that the Namahage will not come for them.
We can’t wait for next week’s activity!
