Today in ACCESS, we learned all about the moon landing. We first discussed what we know about the moon itself. Some students remembered that it’s surface has craters. Some knew that it revolves around the Earth, and we discussed how that creates the phases of the moon and the tides.
Most importantly, we discussed how gravity works differently on the moon!
That means that when the astronauts landed on the moon, walking was very different. To see what that looks like, we watched the footage of the moon landing from 1969.
After watching the astronauts, it was time to prepare for our own moon walk! The students diligently crafted their own “moon shoes.”
Two sponges will work best.
Now it’s time for those famous words:
“One small step for man…”
“…one giant leap for mankind.”
