Jupiter has been reading “The Garden of Abdul Gasazi” by Chris Van Allsburg. It is a story about a young boy named Alan who is babysitting Miss Hester’s dog, Fritz. Fritz runs away into the forbidden garden of Abdul Gasazi, a mysterious old magician.

Today, we reviewed what we read this past month. We also talked about the student’s personal reaction to the story, such as whether they enjoyed it or found it scary.
The students then wrote a book report which included information such as:

The main characters and their roles in the story

The setting of the story (time and place)

The plot of the story (what happens)

The student’s personal reaction to the story, etc.

The students’ book reports reflected their individual perspectives on the books they had read.
