What is a necklace made of?

That was the question our students were asked.

Beads, gold, jewels… those are what we usually find in a necklace.

Can we eat a necklace?

Today we can.

First, students chose their string and two colors of straw.

They then thought about how they wanted to arrange their necklace.

One cereal, one straw was one pattern. Two cereal pieces, one straw, one poteko was another.

Once students had planned their necklaces out, it was time to cut up the straws.

“This long?”

“Is this 1 centimeter?”

Once the pieces were cut it was time to get to work.

Putting the pieces onto yarn took patience.

Look at our delicious necklaces.

They look so yummy!
