The summer school agenda for today centered around crafting solar ovens. By harnessing solar energy, we transformed cardboard boxes into functional ovens.

To create the solar oven, we ingeniously repurposed cardboard boxes as the base. The inside was lined with reflective aluminum foil to enhance heat absorption. A layer of clear Saran wrap was affixed as a makeshift window, allowing sunlight to enter and trap heat. Insulation was achieved by placing crumpled newspaper between the layers. Finally, a layer of black construction paper inside the oven absorbed heat, contributing to the efficient solar cooking process.

We prepared chocolate bars and marshmallows for cooking. Due to the absence of strong sunlight, the marshmallows didn’t cook as thoroughly, but the chocolate successfully melted within just 15 minutes.

Overall, everyone had a blast making their solar oven.
