Today in ACCESS and Jupiter classes, we did something a little different.

For our first part of our lesson, we looked at our regular Wednesday Social Studies. As this was our first Wednesday in January, we looked at a new topic of Optical Illusions. We started our lesson by discussing what optical illusions are.
We then moved onto looking at some different types of optical illusions. This included the students looking at different styles of optical illusions.

Lastly, we tried drawing impossible shapes that had no beginning or end.

Next, we moved onto our main event of New Year Mochi Pounding. All students tried pounding the mochi with the large, heavy mallets.

Although tiring, the students were rewarded with their hard work by eating fresh, yummy mochi.
