Today in ACCESS, we started a new theme for Social Studies. Our theme for December will be “Goodbye Old, Hello New”.
To start our lesson, we discussed different traditions from Japan. The students explained some things that are customary here.
After discussing Japanese traditions, we moved onto looking at different Christmas traditions from around the globe.
After we had learned about a traditional Christmas pickle game from Germany, we played it. The students first colored some pickles. They then hid their pickles around the school. To finish the game, the students had to locate their classmates’ pickles.
