Today in ACCESS, we started our new Social Studies theme of “Maps”.
First, the students discussed some of the different vocabulary they will be looking at over the month in Social Studies in July. This included words such as globe, atlas, compass, etc..
Next, the students discussed different places where maps can be found and what they show.
Then, the students discussed and used compasses to learn the cardinal directions: North, South, East, and West.
Lastly, the students put their newly acquired mapping skills to the test. The students were tasked with following cardinal directions and instructions.
