To continue our study of animals in Japan, mostly in Hokkaido we looked at the beautiful crane.
The Japanese crane, also known as the red-crowned crane, is a special bird in Japan. People believe it brings good luck and a long life. They often fold paper cranes as a symbol of this. These cranes are big and beautiful, mostly white with black markings and a red crown on their heads. Sadly, there aren’t many left, so efforts are being made to protect them and their homes in Japan.
We also got a chance to study and look at the skin of a snake and measure it. We could pretend we were real animal scientist.
Congratulations to our newest reading challenger!
