It grows like a plant, and we eat it in our salads, so is it a vegetable? This is the question our ACCESS students tried to answer today.
To begin the lesson we discussed on the similarities and differences of plants and fungi.
Next we introduced our very culture of mushrooms that we would try to grow, no unlike a plant.
We prepped our jars adding in some spores and food for the mushrooms.
Lastly we made some mushroom craft in celebration of this mushroom growing journey.
Here’s hoping we’ll have mushrooms growing and ready to harvest in a couple of weeks.
