This week we finished up our exploration of the layers of the ocean.
It was time to head to the deepest layer, the Midnight Zone.
Students were excited to learn about the Mantis shrimp, a powerful crustacean that lives on the ocean floor.
What’s so special about this shrimp?
The Mantis shrimp has the most powerful punch in the animal world.
Look at it take out this pufferfish!
“Woah!”
Students were impressed by how strong a punch the shrimp had in it.
After learning about shrimp, it was time to finish up our mural.
The last thing we needed to add to our mural were some shrimp.
It was important to write some of the facts we learned that day.

October is Halloween month.
