Today we made a doll, within a doll, within a doll. The famous Matryoshka from Russia. It represents family and fertility. Generations of mothers having children, and those children having children, and so on. It also symbolizes the unity of body, soul, mind, heart and spirit.
We had fun designing our own dolls. First we
drew the faces for each doll.
“Time to glue.”
Next, we drew designs for the clothes. We made our designs based on plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
“Looks like cherry blossoms.”
“So many.”
After drawing everything, we traced the lines with a black marker.
“My hand is tired!”
“Almost finished!”
To finish off our Matryoshkas, we colored everything with colored pencils.
“I like apples.”
“I like all fruits.”
The kids made some really nice Matryoshkas.
