Writing:
Today, the students focused on adjectives in creating bold beginning, middle, and ending parts to a story. We worked on the first half together where one student would raise their hand to describe what’s happening in the picture. Once we had the sentence, we then looked at the nouns and each student came up with an adjective the could put in front of it. This was a very successful exercise, and I’ll continue to run exercises this way as a warmup/actual class work.
Science:
Today, the students learned the difference of food chain and a food web. We also learned that there can be many different food chains in one habitat. We discussed the difference between consumer and prey. We also looked into the many variations within a food chain when given any habitat. They created their own original food chain, and they excelled at this quite nicely since we took the time to discuss all the different possibilities.
