This week, we focused on the boreal forest, also known as the taiga. The boreal forest is a cold forest region made up mostly of evergreen trees such as pine, fir, and spruce.

These forests are found in areas close to the Arctic Circle, including parts of Canada, Alaska, Northern Europe, and Russia. Winters there are long and very cold, while summers are short but full of life.

To bring the boreal forest to life, students created their own forest dioramas by adding animals and turning pinecones into snow-covered trees. They sprayed the pinecones with white materials to look like trees covered in snow, then placed forest animals around their habitats.
