What do you get when you mix a dozen eggs, a mountain of recycled materials, and a classroom full of creative students? You get the great ACCESS Class Egg Drop Challenge! This week, our students put on their engineering hats for a fun-filled, hands-on lesson in physics, teamwork, and ingenuity.

The mission was simple: protect a raw egg from a high fall. The execution, however, was anything but!

The day began with the unveiling of the “Invention Station,” a table piled high with everything from plastic bottles and cardboard tubes to yarn, feathers, and Pringles cans. The first challenge wasn’t building, but strategy. After breaking into teams, each group had to send one “shopper” at a time to grab supplies. It was a race to get the best materials, requiring quick thinking and great communication from every team.

With their supplies gathered, the classroom transformed into a buzzing workshop. The air was filled with the sounds of cutting, tapping, and intense collaboration. It was amazing to see so many different ideas come to life. Some teams focused on creating a soft cushion, while others engineered parachutes, hoping to slow the fall. Every student had a role, and every idea was valued.

Before the moment of truth, we held a “parade of inventions” to see what each team had created. We saw heavily-armored Pringles cans, shock-absorbing cardboard structures, and carefully padded containers. Each one was a testament to the team’s unique vision and hard work.

Then, it was time to drop them! One by one, each team’s creation was put to the test against the unforgiving laws of gravity. Some landed with a gentle thud, their precious cargo perfectly safe inside. Others… well, let’s just say we learned that “scrambled” can happen before the pan!

But whether it was a success or a splat, every drop was met with cheers and laughter. This challenge was about so much more than just saving an egg. It was about teamwork, creative problem-solving, and learning that trying something bold is always a win.

A huge congratulations to all our ACCESS class engineers for their incredible spirit and brilliant ideas. We can’t wait to see what yo u build next!
