Good evening J2 Parents!!
Writing:
This afternoon, the students finished their book 1 of writing. They learned the difference between a weak noun and an exact noun. We went through several examples before opening the book. Example: dog = weak noun and poodle = exact noun or cake = weak noun and chocolate cake = exact noun. This made the rest of the lesson much easier for them, and they then gave examples of exact nouns that they saw in a picture.
Science:
This early evening, the students had their second science test. Overall, they worked very hard on this test and it was a bit challenging for them because of the schedule of enjoying summer vacation to then switch to studying for science class. We discussed how to do better next time, and all of the students pitched in with giving examples of what could’ve been done better. I then told them to not be too hard on themselves because everyone had very different schedules during/post summer vacation. I’m proud that they didn’t give up, and that they understood to give themselves a break.
