This week we took a break from having fun, and talked about something serious. Fire Safety.
Every once in a while, we have to remind the kids what to do in case of a fire.
Things like not panicking, staying low, and covering your mouth.
We talked about the dangers of inhaling too much smoke caused by fires, and we talked about the import phrase: ” Stop, Drop, and Roll.”
“I smell smoke!”
“Let’s get out of here!”
What do you do if you’re trying to escape a blaze, and your clothes catch on fire? You have to Stop, Drop, and Roll.
This will stop the fire from spreading and getting any bigger. We practiced these actions in class so that we will be prepared in case we ever find ourselves in such an unfortunate situation.
We escaped the school safely, and went to our meeting location at the Elementary School. This is where we gather whenever we need to escape the school.
When we got back, we looked inside our emergency bag and checked all the items that were inside.
“What’s inside?”
We also checked for expiration dates.
“Not expired!”
The kids did well listening. Now we have to prepare ourselves for the next potential disaster… Earthquakes!
