Today is Earth Day! We talked about recycling in order to reduce waste, and to reuse in order to produce less trash. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The 3 R’s.
Plastic is one of the most common, and abundant forms of garbage that is just piling up day by day. We talked about all the different kinds of plastic waste that we see in a day. PET bottles are what the kids mentioned the most.
“Everyone drinks 1 PET bottle everyday!”, “Too much plastic garbage!” they said.
We decided to reuse these bottles, and turn them into beautiful art! We colored the bottles so that they looked like stained glass. We then spiral cut them so they dangled when we hung them up.
We hung them in front of a window when we finished so when the sun shines, there will be a rainbow on the floor!
