This week in ACCESS we started learning about the history and culture of Egypt in Social Studies. We are excited to explore our new topic of the month together.

Many of the students have already learned about the Pyramids of Giza before. You could see their faces light up when seeing the photos of pyramids. But why were these pyramid built ?

The pyramids were built to house the dead bodies of the members of the royal family. In ancient Egypt the highest member of the royal family was called a pharaoh. A pharaoh is like an emperor or king.

We made the classic style of the pyramids together. The students made their 3D pyramid and decorated it with Egyptian symbols and blocks. We are excited to learn more about the history and culture of this ancient civilization all month long.
