We welcomed the month of October with a new theme, ‘Halloween and Monsters’. This month’s vocabulary includes some of the most famous Halloween monsters: Dracula, the werewolf, Frankenstein’s monster, and the mummy.
Today we also began to explore the idea of the ‘monster movie’ and ‘horror film’. We looked at a few pictures of popular horror characters from movies or games. We discussed what made them scary and why people want to watch scary movies.
We watched a short, student-made spooky video. It wasn’t scary in the end, but there was a moment of suspense when we didn’t know what was behind a door. That made it spooky in the moment.
Working together, students tried to develop their own scary story. We thought of settings, characters, and what might happen in the plot.
