This week, our students learned about Daruma, a traditional Japanese good-luck doll. Daruma are special because they remind us to never give up and to keep trying, even when things are hard.

First, the students made the round Daruma shape using paper and glue. After the base dried, they painted the Daruma bright red and added a white face. Next came the fun part decorating! Students cut shiny gold paper to make patterns, symbols, and designs on their Daruma dolls.

When the Daruma were finished, each student made a wish. Following tradition, they painted only one eye on their Daruma while thinking about their goal. The other eye will be added when their wish comes true.

Every Daruma was unique, just like the student who made it. The classroom was full of focus, creativity, and excitement as everyone carefully worked on their designs and proudly showed their finished dolls.

We hope all of our students’ wishes come true because with Daruma, it’s okay to fall down… as long as you bounce back!
